Nicole Melander, Ph.D.

In their mission to further innovate in the world of higher education, Campus Labs is fortunate to have the talents of Dr. Nicole Melander. Serving as the company’s Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, Nicole’s substantial knowledge of the higher education industry gives her the understanding and opportunity to connect theory and practice using technology. Her four years of full-time teaching experience—in the classroom, online, and in a blended environment—keeps her focused on the learning transformation that her work enables. At Campus Labs, she is integral to consulting with universities and community colleges across the country to leverage their data application ecosystems to develop insight, identify opportunities, and enable institutional improvement.
Nicole’s previous roles include high-level positions at Civitas Learning, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Achieving the Dream, Oracle, and Microsoft, where she served in such diverse roles as Vice President, Chief Customer Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and Senior Global Director. Nicole earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from West Chester University, her Master of Science degree in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology from George Mason University. In 2008, American University presented Nicole with the campus-wide “Teaching with Technology” award for faculty demonstrating creativity in using technology in their teaching. In 2010, West Chester University of Pennsylvania presented Nicole with the Distinguished Alumni Award for providing a great service to society, receiving outstanding acknowledgement in their profession, and positively affecting many people. In 2015, Nicole was further honored by the same institution by being asked to deliver their commencement speech.
