Beacon enables you to retain more students by utilizing data to support student success. Hear how two self-proclaimed data geeks utilized information from Beacon to increase their understanding of their students and impact their success. Strategies for connecting data from other Campus Labs platforms as well as on-campus systems will be shared.

Dominic Barraclough
Dominic Barraclough earned his doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Dakota (UND) and started at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1999 as a faculty member in the Counselor Education Program. After having served as Program Coordinator and being promoted to Professor he was asked to head the Division of Student Affairs efforts in assessment in general and assessment of learning outcomes in particular as Director of Student Learning Outcomes and Assessment. That work broadened to include using assessment to improve the institution’s retention efforts. He currently serves as the Director of Graduate Studies and Academic Projects.

Margot SaltonstallMargot Saltonstall is the Associate Director for Assessment for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at Northern Arizona University, in Flagstaff, Arizona. Dr. Saltonstall holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, M.A. in Cultural Anthropology from NAU, and B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Arizona. She has worked in non-profit and higher education assessment for over 15 years. Currently, she oversees the assessment activities for over a dozen departments in the Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Division of NAU. Her work within the division focuses on investigating how students’ participation in programs and services contributes to their academic success, satisfaction, and learning and development.
